Rent vs Buy vs EMI for a Water Purifier in Delhi in 2026: One-Year Tenants Compare ₹3,504 in Rental Against ₹15,000 Upfront as Platforms Like Rentomojo List Plans From ₹292/Month

Delhi households on an eleven-month lease are running three numbers before choosing a water purifier: the one-year rental total, the purchase price plus first-year servicing, and the EMI schedule that outlives the tenancy. Water purifier rental in Delhi lists from ₹292 a month for non-RO units and ₹391 for RO units, with filters, repairs and relocation inside the rate.

Bangalore, India, Nov. 02, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The rent-or-buy decision for a water purifier in Delhi is being settled on a twelve-month horizon through 2026, with non-RO rental plans listed from ₹292 a month and seven-stage RO plans from ₹391 against a ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 purchase. Rental platforms operating in the city, including water purifier specialist Rentomojo, are seeing one-year tenants across Dwarka, Rohini, Saket, Vasant Kunj, Kalkaji, Mayur Vihar and Chhatarpur compare a ₹3,504 annual rental bill with the cost of owning an appliance they will leave behind. The arithmetic is short. A non-RO unit at ₹292 a month costs ₹3,504 over twelve months, and an RO unit at ₹391 a month costs ₹4,692. A purchased purifier at ₹15,000 carries filters and annual servicing of ₹4,000 to ₹6,000 in the first year, with servicing and repair alone running ₹3,000 to ₹3,500, according to Rentomojo’s draft red herring prospectus filed on March 27, 2026, citing the Redseer Report. First-year ownership therefore lands between ₹19,000 and ₹21,000 before the unit is moved, resold or abandoned at lease end. The same ₹15,000 purifier on a twelve-month EMI costs ₹1,250 a month before interest, and the instalments continue whether or not the tenant stays in the flat.

Resale depreciation closes the case for most short-stay households. A used purifier with an unknown filter and membrane history clears a fraction of its purchase price in Delhi’s second-hand market, and a buyer who moves cities within eighteen months typically leaves the unit with the landlord or the next tenant. Because the annual servicing bill on an owned purifier runs close to a full year of rental, renting a water purifier in Delhi remains the lower-cost option for every tenure shorter than the appliance’s own working life. The ₹15,000 ownership outlay against a ₹3,504 one-year rental total is the comparison tenants in Delhi’s high-churn rental neighbourhoods are running at lease signing.

The decision then moves to which rental company to use, and the data on what Delhi renters ask next is consistent: deposit, early exit, upgrade and delivery, in that order. On the standard Delhi plan, the security deposit equals one month’s rent and is refunded within seven working days of pickup. Early closure inside the minimum tenure is charged at one month’s rent, with no charge after the minimum tenure. Tenures run at three, six, eleven, twelve, twenty-four and thirty-six months, a subscriber on a six-month or longer plan can swap to a different configuration subject to availability, and delivery and installation in Delhi run 48 to 72 hours.

Rentomojo lists the Nirapure UV+UF non-RO unit at ₹292 a month and the DriftGo seven-stage RO+UV+UF unit at ₹391 a month on 36-month Delhi plans, with the DriftPro at ₹419 and the NiraFlo at ₹417 covering alkaline, copper and mineral configurations. Each carries seven-litre storage. Filter replacement every six months, repairs, installation and relocation within Delhi are included in the rate. Booking runs through the app or website: select the unit and tenure, complete KYC with a government ID and address proof, pay the first month’s rent and the deposit, and schedule installation. Payment is accepted by UPI, card and net banking. Rentomojo, listed on NSE and BSE on September 17, 2026, reported 253,825 live subscribers across 29 cities as of March 31, 2026, with 1,688 technicians, carpenters and painters servicing the base as of September 30, 2025.

For a Delhi tenant, the relevant question is not whether a purifier is worth ₹15,000, but whether twelve months of use is worth ₹15,000 plus servicing when ₹3,504 buys the same twelve months with maintenance included. The shift sits within a broader appliance-as-a-service economy across Indian metros, where tenure horizons under three years have made the monthly rate, not the sticker price, the unit of comparison.

A water purifier in Delhi is a one-year decision for most tenants, and on a one-year horizon rental costs less than ownership in every scenario that includes servicing and resale. Demand through the winter lease cycle is concentrating among households that expect to move before a purchased unit would pay for itself. Rentomojo lists Delhi plans from ₹292 a month for non-RO units and ₹391 for RO units, with a one-month deposit refunded within seven working days.
